Chitika as Adsense alternative? How to get most out of it
There are many cases when you are opting to move out of Google adsense alone as advertiser on your website. There is a possibility that you have been rejected by Adsense or worse banned by Adsense, or you just wish to try out other option than Google ads. I used other networks from time to time to see which ones are working on a particular website and traffic type.
There are many Google adsense alternatives to list, but I have seen very few ad networks giving close results to adsense. With Adbrite shutting down earlier this year there are only couple of old advert systems out there which have proven records. I have tested out Chitika, clicksor, infolinks, TLA and other networks but as this article is about Chitika as adsense alternative, I will be talking about Chitika here.
Ideal condition to use chitika as advertiser on your blog:
Well irrespective of anything, you can go ahead and use chitika on your website but the way I have seen with chitika, you can generate nice passive income with them if your website is having high traffic, mostly US traffic and good niche. You can maximize your earnings with chitika as there are 3 types of ad formats you can select: Text Ads, List Ads and Mobile ads. Once you add code on your website, again you get the option to choose from Linx ads, on Hover ads and Highlight ads. So if you have more than 5000 UVs and mostly US traffic you can easily get into Chitika’s Gold level publisher and earn with them.
How ads perform? : This is my personal observation that you start getting best cost per click after some time. Initially you will find cpc a bit low but it starts increasing and after 2 weeks or so, you will be able to see the difference and increase in CPC.
Is there any other way to earn via Chitika : I am glad we are talking about this. I do miss old days when Adsense had referral program, it was pretty solid one. Likewise Chitika is paying you 10% of the referred users for period of initial 10 months. I was surprised to see my first referral commission as well and when I checked the system I was having 15+ referrals for chitika.
Payments : They do make paypal payments and on month end the commissions and earning for the last month are transferred to our account. I have never seen late payments from them, always on time.
In short, Chitika has a lots of good feature and if you are looking to test out good network to monetize your website or/and applications you can try out Chitika. I find it an excellent alternative to adsense and a solid network on its own.
